This jersey belonged to John "Shiner" Vander Hill (1887-1958), a member of the Holland Independents baseball team. John was born in Holland, MI to Johannes Vander Hill (1837-1906) and Adriana de Frel (1843-1937).On 8-26-1914 John married Johanna Matilda Notier (1889-1953) in Holland, MI. The couple lived in Holland at 223 West 20th Street (1920, 1930, 1940 and 1950 US census). John worked in Holland at the Bay View Furniture Co. for 50 years.
John passed away in Holland on 2-1-1958. The donor, Rev. George Vander Hill, is John's son.
