Description
Silver beaded necklace strung on a fine chain with a hook closure; silver beads are round, appearing to be 2 disks, fused together, forming a ball; 17" of necklace is double-stranded, supporting 8 separate hummingbirds with cloisonne-type outlining in silver with iridescent shell, tortoise shell, turquoise and enamel inserts; central pendant features 2 hummingbirds sipping nectar from a flower; each bird has a solid silver base and is initialed "H.E." (made by Howard Esalio, of the Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico); in white box with lid labeled "Wheelwright Museum, Case Trading Post, Santa Fe, New Mexico;".
History
Purchased by Dr. Titus Van Haitsma and his wife sometime around 1966-1971. They were made by members of the Zuni tribe in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
