Description
Blue wool and white cotton coverlet in summer-and-winter weave, tag reads "Hand Spun and Dyed Quilt, Made in the middle 1800 by Margaret Scripture, great aunt of Margaret Scripture-Goldstein."
History
It is believed that objects in accession 1997.84 were accepted into the permanent collection as hands-on material for display or programs, particularly in the Cappon and Settler's Houses.

There is no apparent connection to the Holland, MI area, Ottawa County, or the Netherlands. The items in 1997.84 belonged to the family of Margaret Louise Scripture Goldstein. Neither Margaret, her parents Langdon (1841-1919) and Louise (1870-1956), or grandparents, Hiram Scripture (1807-1851) and Margaret Scripture (1815-1900) ever lived in the Holland, MI area. It's possible that these items were accepted for exhibit purposes, in which case, the permanent collection should not be their home.
