History
This dower or wedding chest from Graafschap Bentheim, Hanover probably belonged to Geert Albers' first wife Geertjen Horlings ca. 1820. When the Albers family emigrated to America ca 1847, the chest was converted to a trunk by cutting off the legs and adding an iron latch and handles for travel. Donor received the chest from her aunt Cecelia A.Ver Hage, a great granddaughter of Geert Albers.
