Description
Copper tobacco box with brass lid and base. It is engraved with Bible passages, also with human and animal figures. It is thought to be from the 18th-19th century.
History
Elizabeth was born to John (1881-1978) and Marjorie (1882-1958) Schouten. Her nickname was “Bess”. Bess was born November 6, 1909 in Holland. She was a graduate of Hope College and Michigan State University, Elizabeth taught school in Michigan for Constantine, Grand Haven and Holland school systems. She taught at Lincoln and Jefferson school for Holland.
