The donor, Lois M. Marsilje, was a missionary nurse. She collected this object in India where she worked for nearly 40 years, ca. 1937-1974.Lois M. Marsilje was born in Athens, IL in 1911. Her family moved to Holland, MI in the 1920s. Lois attended Holland High and Hope College. She was also a member of Holland’s First Reformed Church. Lois studied at Chicago’s Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.
After retiring in 1974, Lois returned to live in Holland, MI. Lois died in 2001. She was buried in Holland’s Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
