Costume pants measuring 40" x 17" x 1/2"; pair of heavy black wool pants with button closure in front; flap in front attaches with two metal buttons (one silvered) with etched decorative designs; laces to close back of pants missing; inner waist, top of inner flap and pockets lined with black and white striped material.
History
Costume 2000.2.16a-b was worn by William Vande Water at numerous Tulip Time events in Holland, MI.William served as a Boy Scout commissioner from about 1925 to 1985. He also worked for the Holland Sentinel and the Holland Chamber of Commerce. William "Bill" Vande Water was born in 1901 to Martinus Vande Water and Bertha Van Oort. Bill married Kathryn Van Ry (1901-1983) in Holland, MI on 10-26-1925. They lived at 62 West 22nd Street in Holland. Their son was Randy Vande Water.
