Description
a-b) 48 ' x 51 1/4" x 3 1/4" Wooden head and foot boards; each piece with turned spindle posts, square centers connecting think post with five knobs, and tapered tube feet; faded black lettering "____ Holland;" inner leg of each with hole for twisting slat into; wood scratched and nicked.c-d) 72 1/2" x 4" x 3" Two round wooden connecting slats with ends that twist into head and foot boards; seven knobs on each side to wrap rope around; "Sakkers & Wakker" appears on each side post.3/4 size rope bed possibly made in Chicago or Grand Rapids. Sold locally by the shop of Sakkers and Wakker which was in business under that name between 1865 and 1868. Possibly made in Holland, Michigan, however... the stenciled name on the side rails is misspelled, indicating that it was possibly stenciled for shipping by a company outside of the area; appraised at $1400.
