Description
Copper, medal, in the shape of a cross, with eagle in the center.  The eagle is clutching a shield in its feet.  The words "United States Forces" appear above the eagle.  The years 1917 and 1918 appear on either side of the shield.
On the back are the words "Presented by the People of Holland, Mich., In Grateful Recognition of Patriotic Service in the World War, July 4, 1919".
History
Items in 2003.114 belonged to World War One veteran Herman Prins. Herman was born in Holland, MI in 1888 to Peter and Elizabeth Prins. He was a life long resident of Holland, a member of the Fourteenth Street Christian Reformed Church and former employee at Chris-Craft.

The donor, Roger Prins, is Herman's nephew.
