3.25" x 4.25" x 11.5" A pair of man's Dutch, wooden shoes painted black, and decorated with an orange and yellow butterfly in an etched bow tie design; each end of a leather strap is nailed under instep helping to hold foot in shallow shoe; smooth insides are unpainted, and each is marked "25"; soles are quite worn and scarred.
These shoes are part of a Volendam costume purchased in Volendam, in the Netherlands, ca. 1948. Unfortunately, there is no local history connected with the shoes.
