Description
baseball trophy, gold-colored with plastic base. The base resembles marble. Gold-colored baseball player stands on top of trophy. On the front of the trophy is a plaque with the words “Holland Recreation Class A Tournament Champs 1978”.
History
This object belonged to Mayor Richard Smith. He served Holland from 1979-1983.

Born in 1923, Richard W. Smith worked in Holland, MI at General Electric for 30 years. Prior to serving as Holland's mayor, he was a member of the Holland City Council for 10 years.

Richard lived with his wife Harriet at 252 East 24th Street in Holland.

He died Monday, February 11, 2008, at Select Specialties Hospital in Muskegon. He was buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
