Bracelet, copper, with an "H" (Holland) in the center, from Froebel School.
History
The donor, H. Arlene DeCook Ruhala, received this bracelet while in the 5th grade at Froebel School in Holland, MI in the school year 1945-46. She won a contest for the best oral report on the subject “Our Community”.

Besides her teacher, Mrs. McQueen, Mrs. Martha Diekema Kollen was also present to judge the contest. Arlene won the contest and received this bracelet from Mrs. Kollen as a prize. Mrs. Kollen explained that the bracelet was copper and was one of the first pieces of jewelry made in the early days of Holland, MI. The “H” stood for Holland.

Arlene De Cook was born to Willis and Mildred De Cook. Arlene attended the University of Michigan. She married Richard Ruhala.
