This sword and scabbard belonged to the donor's father, Captain John Bremer (1892-1972). John was an officer in the 126th Infantry, Company D, Holland National Guard. He enlisted on 4-18-1917 and was discharged on 5-29-1919. John fought in France and was wounded.Bremer was one of the organizers of VFW Post 2144 in Holland, MI and served as the post's first commander.
John M. Bremer was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 4-9-1892. He passed away in Holland, MI on 3-4-1972. John married Jeanette Knoll in Holland, MI on 6-30-1970.
