Description
Dutch female doll (a) consisting of two removable wooden shoes (b and c), two removable brown , waist-high stockings (d and e), one removable white cap (f), one removable white and gray kerchief (g) and, one removable black apron (h). The dress and skirt do not appear to be removable. Black dress with red, blue and white flowers. Black apron with white draw string and vertical stripes of white, blue, green and burgundy in the front, at top of apron. Red and white skirt under dress.
History
Doll owned by the donor’s mother, Nathalie Jane Cloud Piersma. Nathalie grew up in Holland, MI at 177 East 17th Street. An unknown Holland resident made the doll for Nathalie when Nathalie was a little girl (ca. 1925).

Nathalie married Chester Piersma in Holland, MI on 10-11-1940.

“Nathalie Jane Piersma, age 93, of Holland, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at an area care center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Richard Piersma in 2002. Nathalie was a member of Maplewood Reformed Church. She loved visits from her grandchildren, trains, vacations in Pan-ama City Beach, Florida, birds, Windmill cookies and Brenner Tours. She is survived by her children, Judy and Roy O’Connell of Allegan, Richard and Nancy Piersma of Norton Shores, Phillip and Linda Piersma of Antwerp, OH, Kathi and Bob O’Connor of Holland, Jill Johnson of Holland; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elsie Weeber and Ann Piersma of Holland; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland with Rev. Leah Van Kem-pen officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Resthaven Care Community- Good Shepherd Home.”
