History
Photo from album belonging to Donald Bouwman. He entered the US Army in 1941. He was sent overseas in April of 1942 and returned to the US in July of 1944. Don was discharged Feb. 9, 1945. Don was born in East Saugatuck, MI on 2-11-1917, the son of Henry Bouwman and Lucy Thomas. Donald lived in the Holland, MI area his entire life. After serving in the US Army during WWII, Bouwman drove truck for Holland Motor Express.
Donald married Anna Evink Sas on 6-25-1944.
Donald was affiliated with Company D, the National Guard unit in Holland, MI. Company D was part of the 126th Infantry Regiment, which, in turn, was part of the 32nd Infantry Division (Red Arrow). He died 4-27-1983. He was buried in Restlawn Memorial Gardens (Holland, MI).
