History
Sara Wynders Vander Putten (1882-1968), wife of Jacob Vander Putten, lived in Holland, MI at 37. E. 15th Street in 1915. City Directories show that Sara had moved to 147 East 18th in Holland by 1921. By 1927, she was living at East 8th Street, 2 east of Walnut.
Johanna Vanden Hoff, Henry Vanden Hoff Vander Putten and Grace Vanden Hoff Vander Puuten were siblings. Their mother was Zeeland, MI resident Greta Vaander Putten Vanden Hoff, sister to Jacob Vander Putten. When Greta died in 1918 (her husband Dirk died in 1915), Sara and Jacob adopted Henry and Grace. Apparently, Johanna was not adopted by the Vander Puttens. She did, however, live with her aunt and uncle in Holland, MI ca. 1922.
Jacob Vander Putten was born September 17, 1880 in the Netherlands. He died April 28, 1952 in Holland, MI. Jacob worked at Hart & Cooley for 25 years, retiring in 1945.
He lived with his wife, Sara Wynders Vander Putten (1882-1968) in Holland, MI at 37 East 8th Street and, leter, at 702 North Shore Drive. Both are buried in Pilgrim Home.
The Vander Putten’s adopted Jacob’s niece and nephew, Henry (1911-1969) and Grace (1913-1984) Vanden Hoff Vander Putten.
