Description
Black and white photograph showing the Hoeksema farmhouse on the corner of Mason and 104th in Holland Township. In the driveway, a team of horses is hitched to a wagon. Beside the horses, four people (2 adults and 2 children) are visible standing in a row. The two adults are probably Albertus (Lumbartus) and Trijntje Hoeksema. The children could be any of Albertus and Trijntje's 6 children.
Albertus Hoeksema (1828-1906) & his family arrived in the US ca. 1854 from the Netherlands. With the help of his wife Trijntje Medendorp Hoeksema (1837-1937), and their children, the family farmed land in Holland Township at the corner of Mason and 104th.
