Black and white photograph showing the interior of the Service Market grocery store (located at 122 East 8th in Holland, MI).  Four employees can be seen in the photo.  At left, in apron, is John Pathuis.  The man behind the cash register, with head visible, is Henry Pathuis.  The man at right in white shirt is William Pathuis.  The woman is Onie Pathuis.
History
The Service Market, located at 122 East 8th in Holland, MI, appears in the following Holland City Directories: 1924; 1929; 1934; 1936; 1940; 1950; 1954; and 1956. In 1924 it was operated by De Haan and Boeve. By 1929, Simon Pool was running the store. And, finally, in 1936, the Pathuis family was in charge.
John, Henry and Fred Pathuis appear in several directories as the owners and operators.

By 1958, the Service Market had closed its doors.

Henry Pathuis (1918-2008) was the donor's father. John (1911-2001) and Onie were Henry's siblings. William Pathuis was father to John, Henry and Onie.
William was born in the Netherlands on 2-27-1880. He died in Holland, MI on 7-3-1958. He married Abbie Woldring (1882-1955).
William, Abbie, Henry and John are buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
