Description
Color slide showing a windmill in a small town. This photograph was taken during Bill Wichers' visit to the Netherlands in May of 1962.
History
Willard C. "Bill" Wichers was born on 3-20-1909. He passed away on 5-18-1991 in Holland, MI. He was buried in Holland's pilgrim Home Cemetery beside his wife Nell Van Haitsma (1906-2003). The couple had two children: Beth and Janet.
Bill worked in Holland, Mi as director of the Netherlands Museum and Netherlands Information Bureau. His father was Henry Wichers. His mother was Mamie J. Vrieling.
Bill graduated from Hope College in 1932.
Bill played a key role in Holland's acquisition of the De Zwaan windmill. He sponsored close to 1,000 Dutch refugees during WW2.
