History
Helene Keppel (1888-1970) married Arthur A. Visscher (1886-1969)

Helene was born on July 2, 1888 in Michigan to Bastian Keppel (1862-1932) and Anna Van Raalte (1862-1947).

Arthur was born to Arend Visscher (1849-1921) and Annie Vander Sluis (1855-1926) in Holland, MI on 4-30-1886. He attended Hope College, worked at the Ottawa Furniture Company (after the Great Depression, he worked at Northwest Mutual Life Insurance), attended Hope Church and, was a member of the Century Club.

They lived at 18 East 12th in Holland during the late 1930s. By the 1950s, they were living at 683 North Shore Drive in Holland Charter Township.

They had two children: Helena (1914-2015) and Dorothy (1918-2005).


Dody's obit...

"Dody Visscher Fredrickson, 86 of Holland died Thursday July 14, 2005 at her home. She was the great-great granddaughter of A.C. Van Raalte. She was a lifetime resident of Holland, and attended the Holland Public Schools. Dody attended Hope College and was a graduate of Michigan State University. She taught art in the West Ottawa Public Schools for 18 years. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church. Surviving are her children; Daughter, Sara and John Simmons of Holland; Son, Paul Fredrickson and Carrie Andrews of Holland; 2 granddaughters; a Sister; Helena V. Winter of Holland and several nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be on Wednesday at 1:00 at Hope Church, 77 West 11th Street, with the Rev. Kathryn Davelaar officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the memorial service. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the West Ottawa Public Schools Art Scholarship Fund.
