Description
Black and white photograph showing Calvin Whitepigeon in his WW2 uniform.  To his right is his father Bill Whitepigeon.  His mother, Clara Whitepigeon, is standing to Calvin's left.  At far left (to the right of Bill) is Calvin's sister Mabel.  The small boy is Howard (also Calvin's sibling) and the older boy, on the end, is brother Edward Whitepigeon (father of the donor). Calvin had no children,
History
Calvin Joseph White Pigeon was born in Hamilton, Michigan; the son of William and Clara (Rosette) White Pigeon.

He served in the United States Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1945. During that time, Calvin stormed the beaches of Normandy during the D-Day June 7, 1944 invasion. He also served in the Ardennes, Rhineland and in Central Europe.Calvin was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star and Bronze Arrowhead, three Overseas Service Bars, a Purple Heart Medal and awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster
He was a member of the VFW Post in Holland, Michigan, the Ogichitidaw Warrior Society of Mt. Pleasant and the NHBP Veterans.
