Lakeview School was built in 1949 at 752 Lugers Road. It was remodeled in 1990 and closed ca. 2004 due to declining enrollment. In 2012, the building was demolished.Don Van Ark (1920-2017) taught there in the 1950s and later served as principal. Don lived in Holland, MI with his wife Lileeth Brouwer Van Ark (1920-2006) at 1056 South Shore Drive.
He was a graduate of Holland High School, Hope College, and the University of Michigan.
Don spent 4 years during WWII in the Signal Corp attached to the Air Force.
