Description
White postcard with the image of an American flag on the front.  Beneath the flag is the following caption: If My Wish Came True, If all the good wishes That I wish for you In some magical manner Should chance to come true, The happiest person On earth would be you".

On the back of the postcard, it is dated August 1918.  The postcard was sent to Cora Ter Beek in Holland, MI from Leonard Bareman.  His message is "Dear Cora, I will let you know that I am quite well and hope the same of you.  It is Sunday, had a little meeting this morning...I hope you are getting along ...wellgood by ...."
History
Items in 2001.104 belonged to the donor's father, Leonard E. Bareman. Leonard joined the US Army and fought in Russia as a member of the Polar Bears during World War One.

Leonard was born on August 13, 1886 in Holland, MI to Egbert and Elizabeth Bareman.
His wife was Cora Ter Beek. Leonard worked as a farmer.

Leonard died on March 23, 1940 in Holland, MI at the age of 53 from Scarlet Fever. His brother James died of the same disease within 35 hours of Leonard's death. Leonard was buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
