Description
Folding rocking chair, light brown wood with arms and upholstered seat and back, "used when you went to a friend's home for sewing". Faded floral design visible in center of upholstered seat and back.
History
This chair first belonged to Andris Steketee (1840-1917) and his wife Geertje Scholten (1840–1931). The 1870 US Census shows them living in Holland, MI. Next, the chair belonged to the son of Andris and Geertje, Henry C. Steketee (1881-1967). Henry and his wife Katherine Neerken (1885-1960), Holland, MI residents. Henry was born in Holland, MI July 14, 1881. He died in Holland, MI in March of 1967.
