History
In early Holland promotional material it stated, “Among the pioneers in the retail trade of this city is J. A. Brouwer, and since the foundation of the business he controls was laid, he has been one of the leading merchants of the place, ever in the van of improvement and enterprise. The year 1892 first saw the establishment of the extensive furniture trade now being carried on by Mr. Brouwer. His stock is a large and elaborate one, embracing furniture of every style and grade, carpets, oil cloths, window shades, wall paper, pictures and house furnishing goods of every description.”
