Black and white photograph of Herman Hylkema holding a mare, "Daylight Again," that he was training, in front of his racing buggy ca. July 28, 1961. Hylkema came to the United States in 1953 from Amsterdam, raced and trained horses until finally opening his own stable in the winter of 1960/61 in Northville, Michigan. This photo is from his first visit to Holland to race at the Ottawa County Fair for the Leo J. Meyer Memorial Pace.
