Description
Black and white photograph of three men in suits on August 1, 1961. One man is presenting Capt. Petinakis with a pair of decorated shoes. The shoes appear to have "Capt. Andreas Petinakis SS Zermatt" burned into the side of them.
The S.S. Zermatt was a Greek ship that would dock at the Harrington Coal Dock.  It was the first overseas cargo ship that came through Holland, and it helped establish Holland as a port city.
The shoes were presented at a noon luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce at the Hotel Warm Friend.  The S.S. Zermatt's chief engineer, William Logoudakis, and representatives from area shipping firms, the chamber of commerce, and other area businesses also attended the luncheon.
