Black and white photograph of the Latin Americans United for Progress of Holland Tulip Time float in May of 1971.LAUP organized in 1975 after the first Latin American Society fiesta was held in May of 1965 at West Ottawa High School. Maria Silva, a West Ottawa senior, was the first queen, and she and her court rode on the first float in the 1965 Tulip Time parade. The Latin American Society and then LAUP has had a float in every Tulip Time since 1965.
