Description
Black and white photograph from the 1938 Tulip Time.  The woman holding the camera is actress Virginia Grey and next to her is actor Richard Arlen.  They are watching the children's parade.  Seated next to Arlen is Mrs. August Landwehr (widow of the Holland Furnace Company), Mayor Henry Geerlings, and the Holland Furnace Company president P.T. Cheff.  Int he center, standing is the superintendent of schools E.E. Fell.  
History
Henry Geerlings was born in Holland, MI on 2-29-1868. He passed away in Holland, MI on 11-1-1960. Henry married Johanna Mulder on 9-2-1891 in Holland, MI. Henry and Johanna had two children.
Henry served as mayor of Holland for 10 years, he served on the Board of Education for 50 years and the Library Board for 51. He worked for the First State Bank in Holland for 50 years, retiring in 1940 and wrote the Day's Thought, a daily column in the Holland Sentinel, for 40 years.
