Sepia toned photo of the interior or A. Steketee Dry Goods & Grocery. The photos shows the grocery part of the store with several gentlemen inside. The man on the far right is believed to be Mr. Andries Steketee, proprietor of the store.
History
Andries Steketee (1840-1917) ran the A. Steketee & Sons Dry Good Store located at 18-22 E. 8th Street in Holland, MI. It appears that Andries Steketee took over the store from his brother Paul (1834-1899) in about 1872. Paul continued to have a store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Steketee's Department store. Andries ran the Holland store with the help of his younger brother Bastian (1855-1928).
