Description
Postcard sent to Earl and Ruth Dykstra at 495 Harrison Ave in Holland, MI. from their father. Postmark is July 21, 1949.
On the back is the note William Dykstra wrote to his children Earl and Ruth.
"Dear children, Here we are sitting in the car while a leak at the valve of an inner tube is being repaired.  We're about 10 mi. out of Pittsburg.  Glad to be out of the big city.  We enjoyed our visit thru Heinz plant.  We were well received.  It is warm and humid, cloudy too.  We are fine and enjoy the scenery.  Still have a long way to go.  We don't mind tho.  We finished our lunches now, still good.  Love from us all.  Dad".
History
About this postcard, the donor writes...
"In July 1949, Laverne (Dykstra) wanted to see the Heinz plant in Pittsburgh. He took my mother (Laura Mannes Dykstra) and dad (William Dykstra) and me to make the trip. My 1949 diary has four blank pages during the trip.
My dad wrote to a brother and sister (Earl Dykstra and Ruth Dykstra Busscher) at home, 495 Harrison where we lived."
