Renke De Vries was born in the Netherlands on 9-10-1842. He served in Company I, 25th Michigan Infantry during the Civil War. After the war he found work as a blacksmith. Renke married Jantje "Jane" Miedema (1850–1936) on 8-25-1868 in Holland, MI.Renke passed away in Zeeland, MI on 1-30-1922.
