Bontekoe Family of Holland, MI

Peter Bontekoe (1870-1933) and Maria "Mary" Klaassen (1873-1949) were married in Holland, MI on 7-15-1890. Their children include the following: 1.Josine W. Bontekoe (1891–1919); 2. Herman Bontekoe (1892–1973); 3. Ida Bontekoe (1894–1970); 4. George (1897-1973); 5. Wilhemina Ann Bontekoe (1900–1970); 6. Martin Bontekoe (1903–1974); 7. Cornelius (Neil) Bontekoe (1906–1969); and,
8. Harold Bontekoe (1912–1987).

Peter worked as a plumber in Holland. The name "P. Bontekoe & Son" can be found in Holland city directories as far back as 1910. The family lived in Holland at 196 West 14th Street from 1906-1931 (Holland city directories).

1. Josine married Cornelius Bouwens in Holland, MI on 8-27-1908. By 1914 they were living in Grand Rapids, MI.

2. Herman married Dena Rotman in Holland, MI on 6-12-1913. He worked as a mason in Holland.

3. Ida married Jacob Veldheer in Grand Haven, MI on 8-15-1913. Holland city directories show Ida and Jacob living in Holland, MI at 137 Fairbanks in 1921 and 1931. By 1940, they had moved to 84 East 17th in Holland. Jacob worked for the Holland Furniture Co.

4. George Bontekoe married Priscilla Boeve in Holland, MI on July 24, 1924. George worked as a licensed plumber in the Holland area. Their children were: Myra; Shirley; Verna; and, Preston.

Shirley married Walter Nykamp in Holland, MI on 10-25-1946. Myra married Raymond Bush in Holland, MI on 6-1-1946.

5. Wilhelmina married John Hop in Holland, MI on 8-1-1919. They later divorced and she married a man with the last name of Scott.

6. Martin was a Holland resident up until at least 1920. By 1927, he was living in Grand Rapids, MI. He married Ruth Dillenbeck in Grand Rapids in 1925. Viola Batey was his second wife.

7. Cornelius married Reka Bos on May 27, 1933 in Holland, MI.They lived in Holland at 196 West 14th from 1931 to 1956 (Holland city directories). Cornelius worked as a welder.

8. Harold married Evelyn Bos in Indiana on 12-31-1931. They lived in Holland, MI at 266 West 9th. He worked as a crane operator and served as a plumber's apprentice.
