Description
Scrapbook, 157 pages, assembled by Bill Sikkel.  This scrapbook features area servicemen and servicewomen that served during WW2.  There are newspaper photographs of 1,440 people.

Photos with a blue mark under the name represent those men that served in Holland's Company D.  Photos with a gold star represent those men and women that did not survive the war. 58 people have a star beside their photo.

Some of the Holland area boys with a gold star include the following:
George Bruursema (1921-1942), son of William and Jennie Bruursema of Holland, MI (36 east 16th Street).  George is buried in the Philippines. George died from mortar fire injuries.

Jess J. Nicol, born 1918 to Cora Krebs. Married Elizabeth Angeline Dirkse on December 19, 1941. Died January 8, 1943 from mortar fire injuries. Buried at Ft McKinley, Philippines.

Harold J Slenk, born May 16, 1915 in East Saugatuck, MI. Married Johanna Center Slenk, she died in 1940. Married Reka Lenters 1943. Died November 29, 1944 in Germany, buried East Saugatuck Cemetery.

Henry Wehmeyer, born November 25, 1921 in Iowa. Parents Earnest and Alice. Died December 9, 1942 from mortar fire injuries. Buried Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Harley Mulder, born April 17, 1915 in Allegan, MI. Father, Marinus Mulder. Died on December 1, 1942, buried at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Herbert E Chapman, born July 15, 1919 in Holland MI. Parents Rexford and Wealthia. Died April 11, 1943 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, MI.

Paul Henagin, born 1921 to Jack and Alice Henagin. Died November 1942.. Buried Fort Wiliam McKinley, Philippines after he was killed in a jungle in New Guinea during the capture of Burma, a strategic city.

John H. Van Til, born September 20, 1912. Mother Margaret. Registered on October 16, 1940. John died from mortar fire injuries in 1942.

Dick Tenckinck, born March 19, 1919 to Henry and Mary. Died January 28, 1945. Buried Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, MI.

James H. Sullivan, born April 7, 1923. Mother, Hazel. Died January 8, 1943. Buried Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, MI. James died from mortar fire injuries.

Leroy W. Ellerbrook, born May 3, 1919 to Dames D. and Nellie. Died March 19, 1944. Buried Sicily-Rome American Cemetery.

Richard Overkamp, born 1917 to Kay and Abraham. Died December 5, 1942. Buried Fort McKinley, Philippines. Richard died from mortar fire injuries.

Everett Potts, born January 28, 1907 in Wisconsin. Parents Horace and Johanna Potts. The 1920 Census has the family living in Holland, MI. Everett attended Holland High School and Hope College. He registered for the WWII draft from Ottawa County on October 16, 1940. Died April 26, 1945 in the Philippines. Buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Wisconsin. 

Foster Monroe DeVries, born October 31, 1918 to Lawrence and Alida DeVries. Lived in Zeeland. Died in the line of duty on April 22, 1945. Buried in Zeeland Cemetery.

Flora Almira, Smallenburg, served in Waves, Yeoman 3/C. Born September 14, 1923 in Holland, Michigan to Dick and Bouwma (Veenstra) Smallenburg. Married Rolland W Larrison, September 14, 1950 in Los Angeles, CA. Died March 18, 2000, buried in Riverside, California.

Ruth Mary Myrick, retired as Mary Howland. Commissioned Lieutenant. Born June 12, 1922 to Floyd and Bernadette. Married Water L. Howland. Died October 7, 2010, buried Elm Lawn Cemetery, Bay City, MI

Marjorie Bolhuis, Seaman 1/C. Born September 27, 1918 to Frank and Josie. Enlisted on April 20, 1944 and served in the Navy. Released date is January 15, 1946. Married Clarence H. Vande Water on November 22, 1946. Died on March 8, 1988, buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Frances Dunkerk (Dunkirk), born November 27, 1909 in Zeeland to John C & Elizabeth (Rozendah). Attended Hope College. Married John Steed on May 28, 1949. Died July 13, 1998 in Pinellas, FL. 

Fanny Sankey, Pvt. Born about 1924 in Brighton, MI, lived in Port Sheldon, MI. Parents, William J and Ruth E. (Hugger). Station: Company B, Women's Reserve Battalion, Marine Barracks, Parris Island, SC. Muster date; January 1948, rank; private. Married George Phillips Simpson on October 8, 1947. 

Berdena and Clara De Vries - Twins born October 27, 1923 to Herman & Martha (TerHaar) De Vries. Berdena enlisted June 23, 1944 into the Women's Army Corp. Married William Kenneth Ross on April 5, 1948. Died May 31, 2017. Clara enlisted June 30, 1944 into Women's Army Corp. Married Robert W Zeh on March 1, 1946. Died August 9, 2014. Both women are buried Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
