History
Louis Hallacy II came to Holland in 1956. He served as city councilman (1968-1973), three terms as mayor (1973-1979), and 20 years in the Holland Area Chamber of Commerce as president and CEO. Before his retirement in 2000, Hallacy also served as president of HEDCOR.

Padnos Family History

Louis Padnos was born in Belarus on 10-7-1888. He married Helen Kantor in Grand Rapids, MI on 11-16-1919.

By 1921 Louis and Helen were living in Holland, MI at 188 East 8th Street (1921, 1945 city directories). By 1952 they had moved to 112 East 28th Street in Holland (1952 and 1960 city directories).

They both contributed to their "junk" business which was originally located at 190 East 8th (1921, 1945 city directories). By 1952 the business has moved to 118 South River Ave in Holland (1952 and 1960 city directories).

Louis passed away in Holland, MI on 11-30-1962. Helen passed away on 12-31-1961. They had two children: Seymour K. Padnos; and, Stuart B. Padnos. Seymour was born on 10-17-1920 in Grand Rapids, MI and passed away in Holland, MI on 7-9-2020. Stuart was born on 2-22-1922 and passed away on 4-3-2012.
Both children lived in Holland and took over the family scrap metal business which incorporated as the Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Company in 1946.

Stuart married Barbara Hermanson in 1946. Seymour married Esther Roth in 1948.
