History
Wulf Van Appeldoorn, Jr. was born on 9-10-1843 in the Netherlands to Wulf Van Appeldoorn, Sr. (1803-1864) and Gysbertje Van Manen (1818-1902). He was the only one of his siblings born in the old country. The other 5 were all born in Holland, MI between 1849 and 1860). Wulf enlisted with Company I, 23rd Michigan in September 1862. He fought in several battles, including Tebb's Bend, KY. He died of typhoid fever while in Knoxville General Hospital on November 2, 1863. Wulf was buried in Knoxville National Cemetery, Knoxville, TN.
