Description
A colored postcard showing the Warm Friend at the corner of 8th and Central Ave. On the postcard it says, "Tulip Time, Warm Friend Tavern, Welkom Vreemdeligen, Holland, Michigan". On the back of the postcard it says, "At Tulip Time, hollanders in full regalia of their forefathers, parade down the main street led by bands interspersed by old Dutch farm wagons, cheese wagons and dog drawn milk carts and everyone of them hopes that your visit will be  pleasant one.". It also says, "Du Saar Photo and Gift Shop, Holland, Mich."
History
Randall P. "Randy" Vande Water was a local historian and newspaper editor. He spent 4 decades at the Holland Sentinel working as sports editor, city editor, editorial page editor, and managing editor.

Du Saar Photo & Gift Shop was located at 10 East 8th Street (1921 and 1960 city directories). It was operated by Doede J. Du Saar (1870-1935) and his wife Cora Du Saar (1875-1972). By 1946 Albert Schaafsma (1904-1987) had taken over the shop. Albert retired in 1961.
The business began ca. 1918 as the Holland Photo Shop, changing to Du Saar Photo & Gift Shop ca. 1938.
