Description
Photograph showing Lida Rogers, biology teacher at Holland Public Schools. Lida and students are working on the Biology/School Forest project at Keppel Forest. Keppel Forest Preserve is located at Lakewood Blvd and 168th Ave. Lida Rogers was a Holland High School biology teacher who also suggested starting a Tulip Day during a speech to the Women's Literary Club on April 26, 1927. She was interested in making Holland a beautiful city. Tulip Time grew out of her original idea. Lida also worked hard on the Keppel School Forest and other beautification project for Holland.
