In 1948 G.W. Haworth left his teaching position at Holland High School and founded Modern Products, a small manufacturer of custom wood products. Nine years later the company became incorporated and renamed Modern Products Company.By 1976 Modern Products Company had been re-named Haworth, Inc. and the company moved toward the exclusive production of office furniture systems. In 1981 they opened corporate headquarters in Holland, Michigan.
