Description
Black and white photograph taken ca. 1949 at the Wake Robin estate along Lake Michigan, near Holland, MI.  Wake Robin was owned by Holland resident and author Paul De Kruif.

This particular image shows the erosion of the dunes along the beach.
 
History
Paul Henry de Kruif (March 2, 1890; Zeeland, Michigan-February 28, 1971; Holland, Michigan) was an American microbiologist and author of Dutch descent. He is most noted for his 1926 book, Microbe Hunters.
