La Verne Koning was born on April 1, 1923 in East Saugatuck, MI to Fred Koning and Christine Haverdink. La Verne grew up in the Saugatuck area but always attended school in Holland, MI.
La Verne registered for the draft on 4-1-1941. He was part of the Army's 433rd Motor Vehicle Assembly Company which entered Normandy, France soon after D-Day. La Verne received his honorable discharge from the US Army on 1-14-1946.
On 3-27-1946 La Verne married Dorothy Schrotenboer in East Saugatuck, MI. La Verne was a long-time member of 14th Street Christian Reformed Church and was a co-owner of Koning Machine and Tool Co. in Holland, MI.
La Verne passed away in Holland, MI on 6-15-2019.
