Description
A postcard showing Sussex Street in Port Jervis, NJ.   This postcard was mailed to Jelte and Christna Reidsema in Holland, MI by their daughter Minnie Reidsema Losey.

The message from Minnie reads "Dear Father and Mother Hope you are all well.  I am getting along fine.  Martin took me up here for a little vacation.  Love from Martin and Minnie".
History
The postcards in this album are addressed to Jelte J. Reidsema and his wife Christina.
Jelte was born in Holland, MI on 12-10-1853 to Jan (1806-1893) and Wulmina (1818-1858) Reidsema. Christina was born on 5-25-1855 in the Netherlands to Arien Van Grevengoed (1820-1902) and Coendertje Baatje (1825-1882). Jelte and Christina were married in Holland, MI on 5-16-1877.

Their children include the following: Wilhelmina (1878-1956); Cornelia H. (1879- ); Johanna M. (1881- ); Johanna M. (1884- ); Gertrude (1885-1978); Cornelia (1885- ); Christiaan Albert (1887-1975); Peternella (1890- ); Henry J. (1892- ); and, Ben (1893- ).

The family lived at 252 West 11th (1897 and 1934 city directories). Jelte worked in a tannery.

Several postcards are from "Martin & Minnie". Minnie is Wilhelmina Reidsema, the eldest daughter of Jelte and Christina. Minnie was born 2-25-1878 in Holland, MI. She married Martin Losey on 8-2-1900 in Kalamazoo, MI.
