Rachael Day Sipp was born in New York on 8-20-1835. She passed away in Holland, MI on 1-29-1916. According to the 1870 and 1880 US Census Rachael was living in Holland, MI during those years with her husband George.Ca. 1886 George was offered the job of librarian at the Holland City Library. Rachael wanted this position but certain officials associated with the library were unsure if she should be assigned such an important role. So George accepted the offer to be librarian on the condition that his wife Rachael be allowed to perform the librarian duties.
