Catherine moved from the Netherlands to the US with her father, Hubertus van Meurs ca. 1923. Catherine or Catherina Alberta Van Meurs was born in Gaitherburg, Haarlem Municipality, Noord-Holland, Netherlands on August 24, 1907. Her father was Herbert her mother was Kosjie (Kosjie van der Weijden died at age 43 in the Netherlands on August 9, 1922 in Schoten, Noord-Holland).

In the 1940 city directory Herbert and Catherine lived on Waverly between 8th & 16th street.

Catherine was a member of the Women’s Army Corp. She enlisted on October 30, 1942, from Kalamazoo. She was part of the inactive reserves. She was recorded to be 62” tall and 125lbs. Her last residence was in Gaithersburg, Montgomery Co., Maryland. Catherine is buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland, MI. Hubertus (Herbert) was a tool and die maker at Hart & Cooley Manufacturing in Holland.
