History
This rocking chair is from the Jenison Park Hotel. Jenison Park, also known as Jenison Electric Park, was an amusement park that operated ca 1892-1920's. The park had wooden roller coaster and a variety of rides and games. Many guests were brought to the park by the Interurban electric train or by boat. The park was located in the Macatawa area on the south side of Lake Macatawa before Eldeans Shipyard.

Jenison Park is an area of Holland, Michigan, on the south side of Lake Macatawa about 1/2 mile from Lake Michigan. This area was comprised of a hotel and amusement park. In 1891 Lucius and Luman Jension, twin brothers, bought Shady Side Resort from William J. & Charlotte Scott for $1,339.20. It included a hotel, skating rink/dance hall, dock and ten acres of land. This began the development of the amusement park. The area was renamed Jenison Park. The Jenison’s worked to make the Jenison Park Hotel a first class resort.
