History
The Walsh family operated a drug store in Holland, MI as early as 1872 (Holland City News, 2-24-1872). The Holland city directory from 1897 shows that the store was located at 25-27 East 8th Street, where it would remain through 1927.
The name "Walsh Drug Store" first appears in the 1-11-1906 Holland City News, when Walter C. Walsh operated the business. Prior to this time, in newspapers and city directories, the store was referred to by name. For example, an advertisement in the 1901 city directory uses "Heber Walsh, Chemist & Druggist" to identify the store.

Heber Walsh was born in Lansingburg, NY on 10-19-1830. He came to Holland, MI in 1858. Heber was instrumental in establishing the Grace Episcopal Church in Holland. He served on the Harbor Board and was director of the Walsh-De Roo Milling Company in Holland.

Heber lived in Holland with his wife, Margaret Ingraham Walsh (1832-1911), at 42 East 9th Street. They had two children: Walter C.; and, Francis I. Heber passed away in Holland on 9-8-1905.

Heber's son, Walter C. Walsh, was born on 3-2-1855 in Elmira, New York. He married Jennie Latta on 1-30-1889 in Allegan, MI. They had two girls: Margaret Walsh Brooks (1889–1956); and, Ruth Lotta Walsh Peirce (1899–1984).
Walter was working as a druggist prior to his father's death, as early as 1897. Walter passed away in Holland, MI on 12-31-1945.
