Description
Radio, table model.  This radio is a Radiola III, manufactured by RCA in1924, with headphones (2022.57.2b).  It is black metal with white letters and numbers.  The radio tubes would be inserted into the oval-shaped opening on the front.

 
History
This radio belonged to Captain Joe Boshka, long-time resident of Macatawa Park.

Joe was born in Wisconsin on 6-4-1873 to Joseph Boshka (1843–1910) and Barbara Suchi (1840–1928). In 1898 Joe entered the lighthouse service.

In 1907 he married Annabelle Orcutt in South Butler, MI. By 1911 the family had moved to Macatawa Park. The Boshka home was located at 2310 South Shore Dr.

Joe would serve as the lighthouse keeper for Macatawa, a job he held until 1940. Joe passed away in Holland, MI on 10-15-1965.
