History
John O. Baker, or Jan Oeges Bakker, was born on July 18th, 1837 in the Netherlands. He moved to America with his parents at some point before the Civil War, settling in Ohio. On Feb. 8th, 1864, he enlisted in the 67th Ohio Infantry Co. K. He was transferred to Co. E in September of 1864. He served in the war until December 7th, 1865. Shortly after the war, he moved to Holland, MI, becoming president of the Holland Soldiers Union. He passed on Feb. 6th, 1877 and is interred in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
