Beta Sigma Phi is a national women’s organization. Their website states “In 1931, during the Great Depression, there was a need for an organization that could bring women together and expose them to a social, cultural and educational climate that was not available in those difficult times”.The material in donation 2023.55 comes from the Holland, MI area Beta Sigma Phi chapter, known as the Torchbearer Zeta chapter. Its charter members include the following: Shirley Wissink; Virginia Wenzel; Rosemary Turpin; Jeanne Poll; Marjorie Meyers; Ellen Mast; Jacquie Hurtgen; Gwen Hope Cartier; and, Marcia Bronson. This chapter disbanded in August of 2020 due to continuing decrease in membership.
