History
This piece of wood is from one of the original pillars of Pillar Church. The pillars were made of cedar core post surrounded by wood constructed like barrel staves. Frederik Jan Van Lente (1801-1874) was a cooper. With the help of his three sons, Berend (1823-1896), Johannes (1835-1911) and Hendricus (1840-1923), they constructed the pillars back in 1855-56.

This piece of the pillar was recovered when the pillar bases were repaired ca. 2017. Elton Bruins retrieved the piece and gave it to the donor, Thomas Ten Hoeve, Jr. Thomas is a great-great grandson of Frederik Van Lente and great-grandson of Johannes Van Lente.
